I mentioned receiving notification of website message board postings by
email (not "email conversations").  The amount of responsibility this
adds can start very small and still provide benefit, for example:

   1. /Have a feel for website activity./  Don't even read anything,
      just note how many notifications you're deleting.
   2. /Better your understanding of our community./  Only read what
      others are saying, you have no obligation to reply.
   3. /Expedite the resolution of community concerns./  Nip problems in
      the bud by replying just once, for all to see.

"Committee involvement among homeowners" could be possible for
homeowners with conflicting schedules (or locations) by utilizing the
website.
